Helsinki, 16th of September, 2025. Over 200 experts, companies, researchers, investors, and decision-makers gathered in Helsinki for WWF Finland’s event, “Plant Protein for Growth”. The event was co-organized with Plant Based Food Finland, Technical Research Centre Finland, Natural Resources Institute and Finnish Environment Institute.
A key highlight of the event was the presentation of the Danish Action Plan for Plant-Based Foods and the Danish Plant-Based Food Grant. The policies were introduced by Rune-Christoffer Dragsdahl, Executive Director of the Vegetarian Society of Denmark. His presentation shared Denmark’s approach to plant-based foods – emphasizing bold investments across the entire value chain, from farm to fork, and the importance of building strong cross-sector alliances.
In the lead-up to the event, WWF Finland released a new consumer survey revealing that:
- 66% of Finns believe a plant-based option should always be available in public food services
- 61% think the state should actively guide people toward responsible, healthy, and sustainable food choices
The event clearly showcased Finland’s growing strengths in the plant-based sector – including innovations, and high-quality research and development, and thet the public is also supportive of the development.
