Copenhagen, 20–21 October 2025. The Danish Government reiterated its ambition for an EU Action Plan for Plant-Based Foods as politicians, farmers, industry leaders, researchers, civil society groups, and think tanks gathered at the Plant Food Summit 2025 in Copenhagen.

Held under the framework of the Danish Presidency of the Council of the EU, the summit brought together over 450 participants from 38 countries to discuss the future of sustainable food systems.

The summit was praised for its bridge-building between stakeholders from all 27 EU member states, with many delegates expressing that they left inspired to tackle complex challenges in innovative ways. Collaboration emerged as a central theme throughout the event.

Opening the summit, Jacob Jensen, Danish Minister for Food, Agriculture and Fisheries, emphasized that a food system focused on plant-based foods is key to addressing major challenges—from the biodiversity and climate crises to improving the health and wellbeing of EU citizens.

Minister Jensen reaffirmed Denmark’s position that the EU should adopt a common Action Plan for Plant-Based Foods and green proteins. Such a plan would boost demand, send a clear signal to industry and farmers, and strengthen Europe’s transition toward sustainable food production. He also underlined that Denmark would continue to prioritize close cooperation with other EU member states on this important agenda.

The Plant Food Summit 2025 combined high-level presentations on the main stage with excursions to a variety of sites around Copenhagen, showcasing how the food transition is unfolding in Denmark. From farm to plate.

Throughout both days, breakout sessions offered participants the chance to explore specific topics in depth and engage in constructive dialogue on the many benefits of working together.

In summary: The Plant Food Summit 2025 highlighted the critical importance of collaboration across sectors to accelerate Europe’s shift toward a more resilient, robust, and plant-forward food system.
